Joanna is a songwriter, musician,
Co-Director of SWIM (St. John's Women In Music) and a professional childcare provider. Joanna graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with an Honours in Developmental Psychology and is currently pursuing her Masters in Counselling Therapy. Joanna organized and developed all programming at Girls Rock Camp 2016 and served as a band coach.
Mary is an artist who holds an MFA in Criticism and Curatorial practice. She was the director of Eastern Edge Gallery from 2012-2015 and led over a hundred exhibits, events and festivals during her time at the gallery. Mary brings her solid experience in creating space for artists to thrive in as well as her excellent administrative and organizational skills to the team.
Jenina is a writer, musician and filmmaker. She holds a Bachelor of Education and a Masters Degree in Philosophy. She currently works as a Film and Philosophy professor at Memorial University. Jenina has fundraising experience from her time working as Assistant Festival Coordinator at the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival. Her experience as an educator paired with her musicianship make her a great asset to the board. She also served as Band coach at this years session.
Mara is a freelance musician and a member of local group Hey Rosetta! Mara studied French horn at MUN and completed an MMus at the University of Montreal. She has been working steadily as a professional musician and songwriter. Her band Gramercy Riffs has been featured in television and film, and her songwriting project Wunderstrands began as a collaborative recording project with Brad Kilpatrick and Hawksley Workman. She also performs as a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist with other musical acts like Basia Bulat. Mara has volunteered at Girls Rock Camp Toronto for 5 years as a camp counselor and instrument instructor. She volunteered as a band coach at Girls Rock NL in 2016.
Krista is a graphic designer, musician, and co-founder of local concert promotion company MightyPop. Krista is also a part time Instructional Assistant in the Design department at The College of the North Atlantic. She has also worked with Ladies Learning Code and led design focused workshops. Krista created our GirlsRockNL branding and website. Aside from bringing her design and programming skills to the table, she also acted as band coach and led a design workshop focused at last year’s camp.
